Die-cut tape is a key auxiliary material in the electronics, automotive, and packaging industries. Its performance stability directly impacts production quality. Improper storage can easily lead to problems such as adhesive aging, decreased adhesion, or deformation of the substrate. Scientific storage management is crucial for ensuring its effectiveness.
Environmental control is fundamental. Die-cut tape should be stored in a constant temperature and humidity environment with a temperature of 10-30°C and a relative humidity of 40%-60%. High temperatures (>35°C) accelerate adhesive oxidation, leading to loss of adhesion; low temperatures (<5°C) can make the substrate brittle and increase the risk of delamination. Excessive humidity can cause moisture absorption in the adhesive layer, impairing lamination; excessive dryness can cause the substrate to shrink and deform. Temperature and humidity monitoring equipment is recommended to avoid extreme conditions.
Classified storage and protective measures are equally critical. Tapes of different materials (such as PET, foam, and non-woven fabrics) and adhesive types (such as acrylic and silicone) should be stored separately to prevent cross-contamination or damage to the release paper due to physical friction. Unopened rolls of tape should be kept sealed in their original packaging to avoid dust. Die-cut tape should be stored flat on moisture-proof pallets. Avoid folding or subjecting it to heavy objects to prevent adhesion or cracking of the adhesive layer or the backing.
The first-in-first-out principle should not be ignored. Use in order of production date to minimize inventory cycles. Generally, the shelf life of die-cut tape is 6-12 months (depending on the manufacturer's specifications). Expired tape should be retested for adhesion and appearance before use.
